Microplastics: An Invisible Threat with Global Impact

Every year, millions of tons of microplastics enter our oceans — tiny fragments that never truly disappear. These particles accumulate in marine ecosystems, harm biodiversity, and ultimately return to our own food chain. Recent studies show that microplastic pollution is not only damaging to marine life but also poses risks to human health.

One of the hidden sources of this problem is traditional marine coatings. During application, they generate hazardous residues — both plastic waste from overspray and cut-offs, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that pollute the atmosphere and put workers’ health at risk. Later, as paints degrade, they release plastic particles directly into the sea.

At Lasercoat, we are changing this. Our plastic-free, water-based ceramic vitrification process generates no hazardous residues during application, since its main component isSiO₂ — essentially sand. The result is an ultra-resistant protection layer without contributing to microplastic leakage or harmful emissions.

By eliminating plastics and solvents at the source, we protect marine environments, safeguard workers, extend the lifetime of offshore structures, and create a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Sustainability is not an option — it’s a responsibility.
